Magical place.
Ellery told me he had know idea wtf I was talking about when I was talking about going to this magical place called South of the Border.
South of the Border is the only thing I looked forward to as a young child in the backseat of the car in a long trip called going to visit the grandparents in FL.
The roadside billboards start around end of VA on I-95 & have witty sayings like Pedro sez: put all my junk in your trunk. And there's this fat mexican (pedro) next to an elephant. There's also a how many miles indicator, so you know just how close you are to arriving to the NC/SC border mecca of krap souveneirs. This came in handy when playingpunchbug was no longer amusing & the game boys batteries had long died.
Every year we'd pull up to South of the Border & see the sombrero watertower & my Dad would mutter "You've got 20 minutes here," and chainsmoke Winston Lights outside the souveneir shop or "useless crap you don't need store," as he referred to it.
No difference this trip, my Mom told me to hurry up its 90 degrees & it's too hot for Bailey.
I did however get her to take some pictures of me on this huge fiberglass hot dog dog & next to a pedro & this big ass fiberglass rabbit. Some pix were with my digi so you'll have to wait to see those treasured memories.
Special note:
I really intended to keep my mom's image like the teacher in charlie brown. Ya know, you never saw her but you could hear her "mwahah wah waah wah wah wuh wah waaaaah." (If you know what I'm talking about you know that's exactly what the teacher sounded like. Syllable for syllable. Don't front)
Any rate per Ellery's request, there is a picture of my mom below. Shewould be the old bird w. The blonde hair & the fluffy gay dog. That's Peg. She said take this picture for "mother in law" (long story), whichmeans just me talking about ellery has put some false hope in her head that I will soon date Ellery & give her grandchildren. Fat chance. No
offense smellery, love you.
Ps. Look how cool I look in my sunglasses. $3 fake raybans rule.
